Meeting Minutes
November 3, 2025

1. Call to Order and Consideration of Absence Requests
The meeting was called to order at 4:02 p.m.
No absence requests were received.
2. Hear Visitors
None.
3. Agenda Items
3.1 Approval of Minutes from the Previous Meeting
Upon a motion made by Tom Turbiville and seconded by Comer Patterson, the minutes from October 6, 2025, were approved. The motion carried unanimously.
3.2 Reports
A. Cemetery
Sherry Frisk and Carla Elliott meet with Washington Baptist Church regarding unmarked graves at the College Station Cemetery. Sherry and Carla are trying to help Wellborn Salem Cemetery
obtain a Texas Cemetery Historic Dedication Marker.
B. Historical Marker Program / Project HOLD Report
No new applications have been received. Upon a motion made by Comer Patterson and a second by Tre Watson, the HPC voted unanimously to remove marker #6 from list on Project Hold, which
is 716 Park Place, this house was demolished. Upon a motion made by Tre Watson and a second by Comer Patterson, the HPC voted unanimously to ask the City
Attorney if we could enforce physically removing a historic marker from a house (900 Hereford) that has been demolished for false advertising. Nicole is working on unlabeled scans,
her and Lisa Mouton also changed out the lobby display to a 90s theme.
C. Exploring History Lunch Series
All 2026 program dates have been scheduled except for August.
D. America’s 250
Henry Mayo will try to schedule another meeting with the community, and he is also trying to get a calendar together of all the events happening in July 2026.
E. American Mile
The final list has been submitted for the committee to review, Tom Turbiville asked for the group to review and submit it to him by Friday. He will review and send the final copy to
Parks Staff for them to review. The timeline for the new bricks to be added will depend on the Veterans Park Master Plan.
3.3 Liaison Report – Parks and Recreation
There is a Celebration of Life for Lou Hodges on Friday 11/7 @ 2:30.
3.4 Upcoming Local or Area Historical Programs
- Veteran’s Day Program – November 11 at 5:30 p.m. at American Pavilion.
- History in Motion – November 8 & 9 at 10:30 at American GI Museum.
3.5 Presentation and discussion on historical items from committee members, which may include historical books, pictures, artifacts, scrapbooks, or other memorabilia.

4. Discussion and Possible Action on Future Agenda Items
None.
5. Adjourn
Upon a motion made by Comer Patterson and seconded by Sherry Frisk, the Committee voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 5:16 p.m.
