Meeting Minutes
December 1, 2025

1. Call to Order and Consideration of Absence Requests
The meeting was called to order at 4:02 p.m.
Upon a motion made by Tre Watson and a seconded by Tom Turbiville, the Committee
voted to unanimously approve the absence for Karen Story.
2. Hear Visitors
None.
3. Agenda Items
3.1 Approval of Minutes from the Previous Meeting
Upon a motion made by Tom Turbiville and seconded by Comer Patterson, the minutes
from November 3, 2025, were approved. The motion carried unanimously.
3.2 Reports
A. Cemetery
Sherry Frisk is in charge of placing the flags on graves at Shiloh and Salem. Carla Elliott is
assisting the Wellborn Cemetery with obtaining a historic designation, she is also meeting
with Bill Page and Reverend A.C. Clark this week.
B. Historical Marker Program / Project HOLD Report
Comer Patterson stated that the Morman Student Center house has been demolished and
their marker should be revoked, more details to come on that.
Nicole Cross has uploaded over 600 items to Project Hold and inventoried over 15K items.
She is working on transcripts from the previous archivist.
C. Exploring History Lunch Series
All 2026 program dates have been scheduled except for August.
D. America’s 250
Henry Mayo will try to schedule another meeting with the community, and he is also trying
to get a calendar together of all the events happening in July 2026. The banners that the
Committee wanted to put up to honor Veterans will likely not happen due to the cost
associated with putting up and taking down the banners.
3.3 Liaison Report – Parks and Recreation
Staff wanted to thank Tom Turbiville and Gerald Burgner for volunteering time and all their
contributions to this Committee.
3.4 Upcoming Local or Area Historical Programs
- Wreaths Across America - December 13 @ 10:45 - Memorial Cemetery of College Station
3.5 Presentation and discussion on historical items from committee members, which may
include historical books, pictures, artifacts, scrapbooks, or other memorabilia.
Sherry brought an item to share.
4. Discussion and Possible Action on Future Agenda Items
No January meeting.
5. Adjourn
Upon a motion made by Sherry Frisk and seconded by Tre Watson, the Committee voted
unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 5:07 p.m.
