Call meeting to order and consider absence requests. The meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m., upon a motion made by Tre Watson and a second by Sherry Frisk the motion to approve Lisa Mouton’s excused absence was unanimously approved. Lou Hodges and Comer Patterson were unexcused absences. 2. Hear visitors. None 3. Agenda Items 3.1 Presentation, discussion, and the possible approval of minutes from the previous meeting. Upon a motion made by Tom Turbiville and seconded by Karen Story, the minutes were approved as written. 3.2 A. Cemetery Sherry Frisk stated that several dead trees have been removed from the College Station Cemetery, and new trees have been planted. B. Historical Marker Program/Project HOLD Report No new historical marker applications were received. The Dixie Chicken marker dedication is scheduled for June 13th at the Dixie Chicken. Kimmie’s last day is May 22nd, she has been working on digitizing images and VHS tapes and working on transcribing Southside interviews. C. Exploring History Lunch Series All dates have been booked for 2025. A suggestion was made that each member come up with 3 potential 2026 speakers and bring them back to the next meeting for discussion. D. Americas 250 Banners Lisa Mouton was absent, no update. E. College Station Pictorial Book Updates Book launch date is May 19th @ 1207. Historic Preservation Committee Board College Station, TX Page 2 F. American Mile Gerald Burgner’s class reset/leveled some of the bricks at the American Mile as a class project. Tom Turbiville sent a list of possible prospects for new additions; he has asked that each member send him ones that they dislike. 3.3 Report by the Liaison of Parks and Recreation on matters pertaining to the Historic Preservation Board. Ribbon Cutting for Anderson pickleball and multi-purpose courts is May 20th, and Tennis court ribbon cutting at Bee Creek is May 21st. 3.4 Identification of upcoming local or area historical programs. Roy May will speak at the Never Forget Garden at 11 a.m. on Memorial Day. 4. Discussion and possible action of future agenda items. None 5. Presentation of historical items None 6. Adjourn. Upon a motion made by Tre Watson and a second by Sherry Frisk, the HPC voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting @ 4:55 p.m.
