The Thoroughfare Concept includes the major roadways classified as arterials and highways intended as a guide to help develop a County-wide roadway network to support the long- term growth anticipated in Brazos County over the coming decades. The adopted 2050 Thoroughfare Concept can be found on the MPO’s website at bcsm- po.org/190/2050-MPO-Thoroughfare-Concept. The City of College Station has adopted a Thoroughfare Plan as part of the College Station Comprehensive Plan. Staff is in the process of identifying the amendments needed to align the City’s Thoroughfare Plan with the MPO 2050 Thoroughfare Concept. As part of incorporating the MPO Concept, some of the smaller, collector thoroughfares will be realigned to appropriately feed into the revised arterial and highway network provided in the MPO Concept. It is anticipated that the Thorough- fare Plan amendments will be brought forward in late fall 2017 for consideration by the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council. For questions or inquiries regarding the amendment effort, please contact Jason Schubert, Transportation Planning Coordinator, at jschubert@cstx.gov.
