home to The Children's Museum of the Brazos Valley) in 1929. The Bryan Depot,
The Carnegie Ubrary, and the Masonic Temple can be seen in the background.
The two-story building with a basement cast stone (a manufactured concrete
building stone) was the first of its kind in this area. The art deco building was
designed by architects Frederick E. Giesecke and Harris and built for a cost of
$70,000. Decorative Friezes, or panels, are featured above the second floor
windows. The building originally served as the City Hall and Fire Department
and later as the Bryan Police Department. it has been home to The Children's
Museum of the Brazos Valley since October of 2001. The building is listed in the
National Register of Historic Places.
