When kids get an hour off from
class to attend a program, the
results are .usually the same. They
play, they joke, they wrestle, they
laugh,
It was true at Allen Academy
Monday morning, but it didn't take
long for the program to sober the
students up. This was no music
review, no puppet theater, no
magician pulling rabbits from a
tophat.
This was a high dose of reality,
three younlit men whose reluctance
to -listen to anyone but themselves
and their "friends" landed them in
the Texas Department of Correc-
tions. '
There was John, who was adopted'
into a loving home, Too loving, he
said; Soon he was a spoiled brat who,
<!emand~d everything and usually
got it. ' .
By age 13,.,he smoked pot. By high
school, he was faking LSD, cocaine,
speed and heroin. At age 21, he is'
spendinL a three-year sen~nc_e_
behind bars.
There was Larry, a product of a
ghetto neighborhood. He also en-
tered into drugs and turned to
stealing to pay his dealer.
Despite getting married, he'
continued to spend every night with
the boys, One of those nights he
caught a knife in the abdomen and
almost died. Later, he was cut,
across his leg with a machete.
But it took getting caught and
landing a 10-year burglary sentence
to slow film down, He is now both
imprjsoned and divorced at age 21.

Weizman voted in ~avor of the summit and that Begin
voted against it.
The insider said the general tone of the Cabinet
discussion was to criticize Egypt's peace proposals, not
Sadat's absence from the proposed summit.
Begin said he was still "prepared at any time con-
venient to President Carter to leave for the United
States to meet with the president to discuss the peace
process and bilateral relations between Israel and the
United States."
Begin appeared solemn as he read the Cabinet
statement to newsmen.
In a sharp criticism of Egypt, Begin declared: "In
addition t,o Ute previous ':Egyptian proposals, which
were unacceptable to Israel, new proposalS were made'
which were inconsistent with the Camp David
agreem~pt of Sept. 1.7 and in fac,t nullified the meaning,
'of the peace treaty, between the two countries,"
