OPULATION Page 11 Volume 7 Issue 8 New Employees The Planning & Development Services Department is pleased to introduce the three newest members of our Depart- ment: Jason Schubert, Staff Planner, comes to us from the City of Denton where he was a Planner I involved with the Denton Development Code. He also has experience as an Environment and Development Planner with the North Central Texas Council of Governments. Jason received his BA in Geology and a Master’s in Urban Planning from Texas A&M University. Grant Wencel, Staff Planner, is from Lincoln, Nebraska. For 20+ years he has worked on the private side of develop- ment as a golf course architect (in his own firm and with others) in Nebraska and Georgia. He earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Kansas State University and a Master’s in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Nicole Cochran, Customer Service Representative, was born in Aurora, Colorado, grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and recently graduated from Texas A&M University in May 2006 (whoop!) with a bachelors degree in Recreation, Park, & Tourism Sciences. After graduation, she returned to the orphanage in Tianjin, China (that she worked at for a semes- ter) and then traveled to Tibet. The rest of her summer she spent in Tanzania, Africa, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, trav- eling through the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater on safaris, and then returned home to get married. The next time you're in our office, please introduce yourself to Nicole! Grant Wencel Nicole Cochran Ö¿±² ͽ¸«¾»®¬ Comprehensive Plan Update! The City of College Station has begun the process to update its Comprehensive Plan. The pur- pose of this update is to create a more workable plan that can help guide decisions about fu- ture growth and development. On August 7, 2006, the City Council approved a contract with Kendig Keast Collaborative, a planning consulting firm, to complete the update. As part of the planning process, a Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC) has been formed to provide valuable information and feedback to the consulting team and City staff. This Committee includes residents from throughout the community. For more information on the Comprehensive Plan update, please visit the website at www.cstx.gov/CompPlanUpdate or contact us at CompPlan@cstx.gov
