Called City Council Meeting
February 18, 1975
5:00 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor O. M. Holt~ Councilmen Don Dale, James Dozier, Fred
Brison, Homer Adams; City Manager Bardell; Assistant
Director of Public Works George Ford; City Planner Koehler.
MEMBERS ABSENT: None.
VISITORS PRESENT: See guest register.
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 P.M.
Agenda Item No. 1 -- Consideration of Ordinance No. 953 calling for a general
municipal election. Mayor Holt pointed out that this ordinance called for one
additional polling place, coinciding with the County precinct polling places
and that Council places 1, 3 and 5 were to be filled.
Councilman Dozier moved that Ordinance No. 953 be adopted. The motion was
seconded by Councilman Brison and unanimously approved. (Vote, yes: Holt, Dale, Dozier
Brison, Adams) '
Agenda Item No. 2 -- Presentation by the Arts Council of the Brazos Valley.
Councilman Bravenec joined the meeting. Mr. Dede Matthews and Mr. Ed Burkhart
described the organization and activities of the Arts Council. They reported
on the Arts Council's progress in considering needs of the organizations which they
support and proposed the construction of physical facilities for the use of these
organizations. They proposed a more detailed report to be made in April and suggested
re-activation of the Brazos Area Planning Cooperation. Councilman Gardner joined
the meet ing.
Councilman Bravenec suggested that the group consider the use of unused buildings of
the A&M Consolidated Schools plants.
Agenda Item No. 3 -- Other business. City Manager Bardell presented a review
of the status of the current budget. He stated that revenues and expenditures were
generally as expected and discussed the effect of fuel adjustment increases on
utility costs and revenues.
Councilman Brison presented an amended memorandum of agreement for water and sanitary
sewer service to the area west of the railroad for consideration at the Council
meeting of February 24.
Agenda Item No. 4 -- Adjourn. Councilman Dozier moved that the meeting be adjourned.
The motion was seconded by Councilman Bravenec and unanimously approved.
