HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/03/2025 - Regular Minutes - Historic Preservation Committee Historic Preservation Committee Board College Station, TX Page 2 February 03, 2025, Minutes Staff Present: Andrea Lauer, Business Services Manager; Kimberly McNally, Historical Records Archivist; Luis Perez, Recreation Supervisor; Ethan Vacula, Activities Assistant Board Present: Carla Elliott, Comer Patterson, Sherry Frisk, Gerald Burgner, Lisa Mouton, Tre Watson, Karen Story Council Members Present: 1. Call meeting to order and consider absence requests. Meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m., Tom Turbiville asked for an excused absence, upon a motion made by Sherry Frisk and seconded by Tre Watson, the motion to accept his request was unanimous. Lou Hodges was an unexcused absence. 2. Hear visitors. None 3. Agenda Items 3.1 Presentation, discussion, and the possible approval of minutes from the previous meeting Upon a motion made by Comer Patterson and seconded by Lisa Mouton the minutes were approved as written. 3.2 A. Cemetery Sherry Frisk would like the Shiloh and Salem sections of the College Station Cemetery to each have a Historic Texas Cemetery marker, they are $700 each with post. She would also like the unmarked graves to have some type of designation. B. Historical Marker Program/Project HOLD Report Dixie Chicken applied, the Board reviewed the application and asked that they make some changes and resubmit. The Board will review the updated application once it has been submitted. Kimmy has interviewed Cheletia Johnson and Hub Kennady for Oral History interviews, she is also working on uploading physical items to Project Hold. Lincoln High School students is up next for Oral History interviews. C. Exploring History Lunch Series Carla Elliott is still looking for 2 speakers to complete 2025. D. College Station Pictorial Book Updates The book is finalized, working on copyright with legal and getting samples, it is on track to be released in April. Lone Star Legacy Park designation The application has been submitted to TRAPS for review, we should know early February if Brison will be awarded the designation. The awards banquet will be at the TRAPS Conference at the end of February. 3.3 Report by the Liaison of Parks and Recreation on matters pertaining to the Historic Preservation Board. None 3.4 Identification of upcoming local or area historical programs. African American Museum banquet is February 22, and the Family Discovery Day is March 1, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. 4. Discussion and possible action of future agenda items. Lisa Mouton requested the banners that recognize Veterans be added to the agenda. 5. Presentation of historical items A postcard from 1913 and A & M book dated 1950 were passed around. 6. Adjourn. Upon a motion made by Lisa Mouton and a second by Tre Watson, the HPC voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting @ 5:15 p.m.
