September 25, 1961
Members Present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Orr, Anderson, Boyett, Rosprim,
Landiss, Sorrels; City Manager Boswell
Visitors Present: W. D, Fitch; Read Wipprecht; representative from Bryan
Daily Eagle; Archie H. Matthews, Jr., Willis N. Ward,
Thomas R. Conner, Ed Lewis, Don D. Lieske, Carl E, Welch,
Kenneth Henneberger, E. Gerald Huck, Bernard Heer, E. Dean
Hosier, Fred M. Webb, Thomas 0, Lake, Jr., Donald J.
Cunningham, David R. Mayo
City Secretary Manning was excused from this meeting,
Minutes of the August 25th meeting were read and approved.
On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Orr, the renewal
of $9,000.00 note at College Station'State Bank was authorized.
On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Orr, Mr. John
L, Sandstedt was appointed city attorney. Councilman Sorrels requested
that he be recorded as voting no,
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Anderson, Ordinance
No. 326, an ordinance creating a Municipal. Defense and Disaster Committee,
was passed and approved.
On motion by Councilman Landiss, seconded by Councilman Orr, City
Manager Ran Boswell was appointed Assistant Defense Coordinator„
The mayor requested that the council consider and submit names of
persons who might be appointed as additional representatives of the Municipal
Defense and Disaster Committee„
On motion by Councilman Anderson, seconded, by Councilman Orr, the follow-
ing resolution was unamiously adopted.
RESOLUTION
The City Council of the City of College Station,
Texas, records with deepest sympathy the death on
September S, 1961, of City Attorney C. E, Dillon.
Appointed to the position of City Attorney on March 26,
1956, he served the city faithfully and efficiently.
Amiable, of good disposition, and wise in his counsel,
his presence will be missed at the council table,

The Council directs that a copy of this Resolution
be spread on the minutes of this meeting and a copy be
sent to his family.
On motion by Councilman Sorrels, seconded by Councilman Anderson, the
invitation extended to the City of College Station to become a member of
The Southwide Association of Municipal Officials was tabled.
On motion by Councilman Orr, seconded by Councilman Boyett, the
public hearing which was set for 7 p.m. October 23 on Ordinance No. 324
was changed to 5 p.m. October 2.
On motion by Councilman Boyett, seconded by Councilman Rosprim, the
final plat of the second installment of "The Glade" was approved.
The meeting was adjourned subject to call.
