CITY COUNCIL 1VM,TING
April 25, 1955
The City Council met in regular session at 7:00 p.m., April 25, 1955
with the following present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Boyett, Orr, Pugh
and Seeger; and City Manager Boswell. City Secretary McGinnis being ab-
sent, the mayor asked the city manager to keep the minutes of this meeting.
The following visitors were present: John M. Prescott, Richard M.
Adams, J. C. Stewart, G. A. Roth, A. F. Isbell, David R. Fitch, K. A. Manning,
J. C. Freeman, Carl Cox, and Welton Jones of the Battalion.
Councilman Orr made a motion, seconded by Councilman Boyett, that
Mayor Langford be authorized to negotiate for an audit of the cityts accounts
for the fiscal.year ending June 30, 1955. The vote of the council was
unanimous in favor of the motion.
Councilman Pugh made a motion, seconded by Councilman Seeger, that
Ordinance No. 211, an ordinance providing for a Public Hearing on the
Question of Rezoning Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, Block 9 of West Park Addition,
,tnd driginal zoning of certain areas in Woodland Estates, be adopted.
The vote of the Council was unanimous in favor of the motion.
The Council authorized the appointment of Messrs. L. G. Jones, and
Charles G. Haas to serve three year terms on the City Recreation Council.
The city manager was directed to issue a license to Mr. Arthur M.
Y' Smith to keep livestock within the city limits.
Mayor Langford read a letter from Mr. Coleman A. OtBrien requesting
the city to remove electric transmission lines from his property, Lot 9,
Block 22, College Hills Estates. The city manager was directed to remove
these lines within a reasonable Length of time.
It was brought to the attention of the council of Dr. F. B. Clark -Is
intentions to use concrete sewer pipe in the South Knoll Addition. The
,J city manager was requested to get an opinion from the city attorney and
the attorneys of the League of Texas Municipalities as to what effect tYe
new subdivision regulation ordinance would have on this addition.
Thr. Carl Cox of Amarillo discussed at length the power situation as
it is today as regards A. & M. College and the City of College Station.
Mayor Langford suggested that the city consider employing Mr. Cox to make
a study of the city's distribution system.
