HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/09/1954 - Regular Minutes - City CouncilF 10 16 n Cb 00 Is (L M ORDER DECLARING RESULT OF CITY ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS CITY OF COLLEGE STATION On this the 9th day of ,April, 1954, the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, convened in special session at the regular meeting place thereof with the following members present: Mayor Langford; Councilmen Boyett, Sorrels, Seeger; and City Secretary McGinnis, and the following absent: Black, Pugh, constituting a quorum, and among other proceedings had were the following: Councilman Seeger introduced a resolution and order and moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Boyett, and the motion carrying with it the adoption of the resolution and order prevailed by the following vote: Ayes: All Present; Noes, None The resolution is as follows: There came on to be considered the returns of an election held on the 6th day of April, 1954, for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, and it appearing from said returns) duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 46 valid and legal votes; that each of the canidates in said election received the following votes: For Mayor, Ernest Langford, 46; for Councilmen: Ward 1,M. C. Pugh, 22; Ward 2, J. H. Sorrels, 10; Ward 3, A. P. Boyett, 13. THEREFORE, BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law, and that said election was held in accordance with law, and that Ernest Langford, M. C. Pugh, J. H. Sorrels and A. P. Boyett were duly elected Councilmen of said City at said election, and said above named parties are hereby declared duly elected to said respective offices, subject to the taking of their oaths of office as provided by the laws of the State of Texas.
