A. Anderson Mayor O. M. Holt Councilman Robert R. Rhodes Councilman A. P . Boyett Councilman A L. Rosprim Councilman Homer B. Adams Councilman B. J. Cooley Councilman Charles Richardson City Secretary and the following absent: none, constituting the quorum, and among other preceedings had were the following: Councilman Holt introduced a resolution and order and moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Rhodes, and the motion carrying with it the adoption of the resolution and order prevailed by the following vote: AYES: All NOES: None The resolution is as follows: There came on to be considered the returns of an election held on the 3rd day of February, 1968, for a preference of site for a new city hall, and it appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 729 valid and legal votes as follows: Preference of site of city hall on :Highway 6 between Francis and Gilchrist Streets 539 votes Preference of site of city hall at water tower 190 votes 01045 I Minutes of Special Meeting February 5, 1968 Page 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law, and that said election was held in accordance with law. PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 5th day of February, 1968. APPROVED: MAYOR ATTEST: City Secretary 01046 RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF BRAZOS The City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, convened in special session, open to the public, at the City Hall within said City on the 5th day of February, 1968, with the following members present, to -wit: D. A. Anderson Mayor B. J. Cooley Councilman O.M. Holt Councilman Robert R. Rhodes Councilman A. P. Boyett Councilman A. L. Rosprim Councilman Homer B. Adams Councilman Charles F. Richardson City Secretary and the following member (s) absent, to -wit: none, when, among other business, the following was transacted: A resolution was introduced and read in full. Councilman Homer B. Adams made a motion that the resolution be adopted as read. The motion for adoption of the resolution was seconded by Councilman O.M. Holt. The motion, carrying with it the adoption of the resolution, prevailed by the following vote: AYES: Mayor Anderson and Councilmen Cooley, Holt, Rhodes, Boyett, Rosprim and Adams. NOES: None The Mayor thereupon announced that the resolution had been duly and lawfully adopted. The resolution thus adopted follows: RESOLUTIONS CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF ELECTION WHEREAS, there was held in the City of College Station, Texas on the 3rd day of February, 1968, an election at which were submitted to the duly qualified resident electors of said City who owned taxable property within said City and who had duly rendered the same for taxation, for their action thereupon, the OJL04 I 10 four propositions relating to the issuance of the bonds of said City for various purposes as fully set out in the ordinance calling said election, all payable from ad valorem taxation; and WHEREAS, there were cast at said election 726 votes, of which number there were cast: PROPOSITION N0, ONE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $2001000 CITY HALL BONDS 435 votes AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $200,000 CITY HALL BONDS 291 votes PROPOSITION N0, TWO FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $1/0,000 FIRE STATION -POLICE HEADQUARTERS BUILD- ING BONDS 573 votes AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $140,000 FIRE STATION -POLICE HEADQUARTERS BUILDING BONDS 150 votes PROPOSITION NO, THREE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $2,00,000 RIGHTS-OF-WAY BONDS 2.52 votes AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $4009000 RIGHTS-OF-WAY BONDS 224 votes PROPOSITION NO, FOUR FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $100,000 STREET IMPROVEMENT BONDS 537 votes AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $100,000 STREET IMPROVEMENT BONDS 153 votes as shown in the official election returns heretofore submitted to the City Council of said City and duly filed with the City Secretary of said City; Therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION,TEXAS: Section 1: That the bond election held in and throughout the City of College Station, Texas, on the 3rd day of February, 1965, which election is more particularly described in the preamble of this resolution, was duly called and notice thereof given in accordance with law; that said election was held in all ®:1048 respects in conformity with law; that only duly qualified resident electors of said City who owned taxable property within said City and who had duly rendered the same for taxation voted at said election; that due returns of said election have been made by the proper officers; that said election has resulted favorably to the issuance of the bonds described in the propositions submitted at said election; and that more than a majority of the qualified voters voting at said election have voted in favor of -the issuance of said bonds. Sention 2: That the City Council of said City is now authorized to issue all of the bonds described in said propositions, to levy taxes in payment thereof, and to do any and all things necessary and convenient in connection therewith. PASSED AND APPROVED this 5th day of February, 1965. APPROVED: �� d4"'v Mayor ATTEST: CILet-"C&'dJ Or City Secretary OIL649 l� RESOLUTION AND ORDER CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS,ON FEBRUARY 3rd, 1968, ON THE QUESTIONS OF ADOPTION OF A ONE PERCENT (1%) LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX WITHIN SAID CITY WHEREAS, there was held in the City of College Station, Texas on the 3rd day of February, 1968, an election at which there were submitted to the duly qualified resident electors of said City, for their action thereupon, the following propositions: FOR adoption of a one percent (1%) local sales and use tax within the city. AGAINST adoption of a one percent (1%) local sales and use tax within the city. and WHEREAS, there were cast at said election 784 votes, of which number there were cast: FOR adoption of a one percent (1%) local sales and use tax within the city. 612 votes AGAINST adoption of a one percent (1%) local sales and use tax within the city. 172 votes Majority FOR adoption of a one percent (1%) local sales and use tax within the city. 440 votes as shown in the official election returns heretofore lawfully submitted to the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, and filed with the City Secretary of said City; and WHEREAS, only duly qualified resident electors of said City voted at said election, and said election was called and held in strict conformity with the laws of the State of Texas: now therefore BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: Sectiowl. That the election described in the preamble to this resolution and order was duly called and notice thereof given in accordance with law; that said election was held in the manner required by law; that only duly qualified resident electors of the City of College Station, Texas voted at said election; that due returns of said election have been made by the proper officers; that said election resulted favorably, to the proposition: FOR ADOPTION OF A ONE PERCENT (1%) LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX WITHIN THE CITY: and that a majority of the qualified voters of said City of College Station, Texas, voting at said election, have voted in favor of approving and adopting a One Percent (1%) Local Sales and Use Tax within said City. 0050 Section 2. That the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, hereby officially and affirmatively declares that said One Percent (1%) Local Sales and Use Tax within said City has been properly and lawfully adopted in accordance with the provisions of Article 1066c, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes (Acts 1967, 60th Legislature, Regular Session, Chapter 36, Page 62. ) Section 3. That the City Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to transmit to the Comptroller of Public Accounts of the State of Texa s, in Austin, Texas by Unites States Registered Mail, or by United States Certified Mail, a certified copy of this Resolution and Order Canvassing the Returns of Special Election, under the official seal of the City of College Station, Texas, showing the approval of said Local Sales and Use Tax by the qualified voters of said City, together with a map of said City, clearly showing the boundaries thereof as of the date of said election.
