College Station Library Preparing for Move
College Station's current library will close as of Friday, February 20. The closing wilI
enable library staff to make the move to the new College Station Library at 800 FM 2818, which
will open Thursday, March 12 at 10:00 a.m.
In the interim period, library staff will pack paper files, completely shelve all books,
move the automation system, ready the existing circulation desk for its new life
as a reference desk, and work with the moving company. Staff will also be trained on the new
procedures for the public access computers, and procedures for booking the
meeting room,
Library patrons needing to return books or other materials during this interim time should
do so at the Bryan Library, or at the book drop at the old College Station location. The book
drop will be serviced on a reduced scale, and "hold" items will be sent to Bryan for pickup
during this time,
In another development involving the new library, Robert S. Martin, Director and
Librarian, Texas State Library and Archives Commission, has agreed to serve as the featured
speaker at the preview ! dedication ceremony scheduled for Sunday, March 8. The role of the
Texas State Library and Archives Commission is very important to public libraries. More details
on the preview / dedication ceremony will be announced in a future release.
