REGULCITYCOUNCILETINGApril111949TheCityCouncilmetinregularsessionApril111949withthefollowingmemberspresentMayorLangfordComcLlmenBadgettBlackBrownHapinandOrrCityEngineerBensomCityManagerRogersAssistantCitySecretaryBoswellandCitySecretaryMcGinnisefollowingvisitorswerepresentatthismeetingFBClarkJHSorrelsHowardMitcheLlFBBrownsHERedmondTWStallworthREBasyBenFergusonHPRigsbyandLMNewmanoftheBryanNewsMayorLangfordadministeredtheOathofOfficetothenewlyelectedCocjmenWHBadgettfromWard1GWBlackfromWard2ndEEBromfromWard3DrFBClarkcamebeforetheCouncilandurgedthattheCityofCollegeStationtheAMCollegendtheCityofBryancooperateinprovidinganadequatewatersupplyforthethreecommunitiesDrClrkthisadamontheNavasotariverinthenortheastcornerofBrazosComtywillimpoundenoughwatertopplytheneedsformanyyearstocomeHesuggestedthattheCouncildesignatesomeonetomeetwiththeBrCityCommissionforadiscussionofthepropositionTheappointmentofthisindividualwasnotmadeatthisCouncilmeetingCouncilmanOrrmadeareportonhisdiscussionwithCulpepperpertainingtheannexationofallorpartsofCollegeHillsWoodlandsWoodlandEstatesndWoodlandAcrestotheCityofCollegeStationisdiscussionwillbecontinuedtfandwhentheresidentsoftheseareasmakeapplicationforannexationCouncilmanOrrsaidthatinhiswrittenreportwhichwillbesubmittedlaterhewouldrecommendthatinthefuturetheCityinstllsixinchwatermainsandfireplugsandthedeveloperinstallalllateralsandthattheselateralsbedeededtotheCitybeforeutilitiesservicebeutMrJHSorrelsactedasspokesmaforagroupofresidentsliviintheareaseastofCollegeHillsEstateswhometwiththeCoucilforacletficationofcertminadvantagestobegainedbytheCityamextngtheseareasCollegeHillsWoodllsWoolandEstatesandWoodlandAcresThisglouowillcirclllatethepetitionforannexationandwilldesignatebymetesandboundstheexactareastobeannexedproposeamendmentstoMrBenFersonoftheCampusaterappeaedbeforetheCounctltoprototCityCrdceordnancewhichprohibitsdhcbtlbodswithincertmnzoredrooftheCityHewasecprotetgthenecessityofhisreEovgtheCpuseaterignsontheTaubrpropertyadjacenttoSulphuroprsPo00279 MinutesRegularCouncilMeetingApril111949TheCouncildiscussedwaysandmeansofcorrectingabadseweragesituationonNorthMainStreetatthenorthedgeoftheCityThisisaproblemthatshouldbesolvedbyjointactionoftheCityofCollegeStationandtheCityofBryanItwasdecidedtotakenoactionuntilafteraconferencewiththeBryanCityCommissionorCityEngineerTheCouncildiscussedtheneedsofanadditionalpolicemutnoactionwastakenTheCoonerStreetpavingproblemwasdiscussedanditwasdecidedtopassthistoalatermeeting0ouncilmanOrrmadeamotiothatthe0ouncilbyOrdiuanceappointthefollowingmemberstotheBoardofEqualizationfortheCityfor1949OESeickeChairmanWITruettnerRBBondThismotionwassecondedbyCouncilmuBlackandtheCouncilvotewasunanimousinfavorofthemotiomMayorLangfordannouncedthatasseveralmembersoftheCouncilwouldbeinShermanattendingthespringmeetingoftheCityManagersAssociationattheMayCouncilMeetingdateMay16ththattheMaymeetingoftheCityCouncilwouldbeheldonMay23CouncilmanOrrmeamotionthat12aOrdnccvalidatmetesabudslheCitylimitsoftheCityofCollegeStationTexasavnismotionwassecondedbyCouncilmanBadgettandtheCouncilvotewasunanimousinfavorofthemotiomovedMayorAttestCitySecretary
