Agenda Item #1: Call to Order
Meeting was called to order by Earl Apgar at 4:10 p.m.
Agenda Item #2-3: Hear Visitors: Linda Harvell was introduced as our candidate for the HPC
vacancy.
Agenda Item #4: Possible action and discussion on absence requests. Ernie Wright was out of town on
business and unable to attend.
Agenda Item #5: Possible action and discussion to approve meeting minutes of regular meeting of July 12,
2010. Minutes were approved as written. (JM/hj)
Agenda Item #6: Possible action and discussion on vacancy left by the resignation of Anne Triche-Steen.
Earl will follow up with the City Secretary’s office on filling this vacancy.
Agenda Item #7: Possible action and discussion on The Annex building. More discussions were held
concerning the Annex building. Earl will attempt to get a stop action on the razing of the building. We discussed
the possibility of having independent contractors assess the condition and possibly donate their efforts to restore
the building. Operation and maintenance of the building would still need to be determined.
Agenda Item #8: Report from HPC Chairperson. We discussed the new budget issues including revenue
funds, recreation funds, fees, donations, etc. The Heritage Programs budget will stay in the General Fund.
Agenda Item #9: Report from Heritage Programs Coordinator. See attached Progress Report.

Agenda Item #10: Report on 75th Anniversary plans. Continued discussions of various funding issues for the
75th anniversary including: hotel/motel, economic development and general fund. The next meeting will be
October 8, 2010 at 8 a.m.

Agenda Item #9: Committee Reports:
• Development – Susan Irza
No report at this time.
• Native American Interpretive Path – Ernie Wright, Patricia Cleere
Hot Rocks will be held Oct. 29-31 this year. Eight tribal representatives, 50 graduate students from
A&M and TSU will be in attendance.
• Historic Markers Program – Meredith Waller
Discussion was held about stopping the program at the end of the remaining markers, a push to
designate two buildings on Texas Avenue, and a historic area designation for the neighborhood off
Pasler. The BCS Sister Cites Historic Homes Tour is scheduled for Dec. 7th from 5pm-8pm. Three
College Station homes are featured: Rudder-Jessup, Bloom-Miller and Abbot, Blakely, Chavis homes.
The HPC will be asked to be docents.
• Oral History Project – Lou Hodges
Lou will be participating in the War for Texas Independence Dedication on the Lynn Stuart Pathway.
• PR/Communications/Sponsorships – James McGinnis
No report at this time.
• Landmark Commission (Liaison) – Hillary Jessup
No report at this time.
• Educational Initiatives/School Activities – Libby Vastano
No report at this time.
• Exploring History Lunch Lectures – Earl Apgar
Earl suggested that Texas Roadhouse sponsor the lecture series with occasional sponsorships from
other catering facilities. We have HEB Tower Point catering for November. Earl, Marci and Anne will
meet on Oct. 7th to determine the schedule for 2011.

Agenda Item #13: Future Agenda Items - A Historic Preservation Member may inquire about a subject for
which notice has not been given. A statement of specific factual information or the recitation of existing policy

may be given. Any deliberation shall be limited to a proposal to place the subject on an agenda for a subsequent
meeting.
