J.O.Alexander was born in Burleson County on October 26, 1922 and
died in College Station on October 23,2006.
He was the son of James Obed Alexander,Sr.and Lucille Barthena Haste
Alexander. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific from
1942-1945 and was honorably discharged as a Captain. After discharged
he managed the family farm and ranch for many years.
He then became an insurance executive with Anco Insurance serving as
a Senior Vice President and partner. J.-O. was very civic minded and
loved the Wellborn Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was
Co-Founder of the Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center. He was a scliool
board member of the A&M Consolidated I.S.D. and President of the
Wellborn Water Board.
Texas A&M was another of his loves. He was a 1942 graduate and is a
former Yell Leader.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years,Nan,and two sons and their wives-
David Alexander and Kay of Abilene and Marion Sid Alexander and
Mary of College Station. His middle son,Jim preceded him in death in
2005. Jim's wife Vicki lives in Spring.
He is also survived by two grandsons,Jay Alexander and his wife Karen
of Carrollton and Michael Alexander of Houston. He is survived by four
granddaughters,Lawre Macha and husband John of McKinney,Deanna
Sorgen and husband Eric of Allen, Megan Alexander of Spring, and
Samantha Alexander of Houston. He is survived by one great grandson,
Turner Kyle Alexander of Carrollton. He is further survived by his
faithful,caring helpers,Bonnie Griffin,Joe Alderete,and Harvie White.
All of his grandchildren lovingly called him`Baps'. J.O.'s three sons and
Nan were devoted to him and he will always be loved and sorely missed
by all of his family and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral
home.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m.Thursday at Wellborn Baptist Church
in Wellborn,Texas.
Interment will follow at Wellborn Cemetery.
