Monday, May 4, 1981 - 5:00 p.m.

Present: Jake Canglose, North Bardell, Administrative Lt. John
Kennedy (CSPD), Chief Charles Phelps, Bob Maddox (BPD)
Ed Burns, Harry Stiteler, Carroll Bell, Warren Heffington
Russell Tompkins, Ben Wormeli
Presiding: Jake Canglose
Proceedings:
* Tornado Spotter training session for fifty Bryan Police
Dept. was presented May 4 at two sessions - 11 :45 a.m.
and 2:15 p.m. A Tornado Spotter NOAA film was shown.
Pertinent literature was discussed and distributed. The
operating procedures within the Department for Watch,
Warning, Communications and Assignment responsibilities
was reviewed. Ben Wormeli substituted for Jake Canglose
for these sessions.
* Warren Heffington will contact John Kennedy (CSPD) for
Tornado Spotters training and review for the College
Station Police.
* Warren Heffington will get with the Cities to review and
update the Watch and Warning Severe Weather Notification
Plans. For this he will work with:
Bryan - Major Bob Maddox
College Station - Lt. John Kennedy
TAMU - Harry Stiteler
* North Bardell advised that College Station City Govern-
ment has now evolved the format and sent it to Austin
for the Attorney Generals approval, and then clear with
the City Council for approval to negotiate with TV Cable
Companies for a channel that can be used for issuing
centralized Watch and Warning Severe Weather information,
and other official information. More on this next month.
Mr. Canglose asked if Bryan could participate in this
also. A check will be made.

On the Monday /6 p.m. Channel 3 News presented a good
interview with Jake Canglose on Civil Defense informa-
tion, concerning Tornado and Severe Weather Watch, Warn-
ing and Safety precaution information.
* Col. Carroll Bell will retire June 30th.
* Charles Hunter - Waco - will retire in June.
* Capt. Warren Heffington and Capt. Russell Tompkins will
be on active duty May 18 - June.5th.
