Present: Jake Canglose, Charles Phelps, Bob Maddox (Bryan
Police Dept.) Bill Koehler, Col. Carroll Bell,
Capt. Edwin Maberly, Ben Wormeli

* Captain Edwin Maberly is a newly assigned MOBDES
Officer.
* Charles Phelps was appointed Chief of the Bryan
Police Department in April.
After a review of the need, a meeting was scheduled
to review the current severe weather and tornado
plans of the Police and Fire Departments of Bryan,
College Station and Texas A & M University, and of
the Sheriffs Office.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 15 at
1 :30 P. M. in the Observatory on the 15th. Floor of
the 0 & M Building on the Campus of Texas A & M
University.
There was discussion on the need for a siren warn-
ing system that would warn the people in Bryan and
College Station. It could require 16 or more siren
units with a radio control system. The cost would
be about five or six thousand dollars per siren.No
Federal money is now available to help pay for these
sirens.
The list of the Tornado Warning Division - Emergency
Telephone numbers will be updated.
* There is need to review and update our Brazos County
Hazardous Materials Emergency Plan. A meeting of the
Brazos County Emergency Team Members is being plan-
ed for a later date. Representatives of the Missouri
Pacific Railroad will be invited.
Ten copies of a Drivers Pocket Guide to Hazardous Mat-
erials has been received from D.S.I. Transports, Inc.
Houston, Texas. These will be distributed to our
Police and Fire Chiefs.
* Preparations need to be made for the week of July
21 -25 when someone from Texas Dept. of Health - State
Radiological Maintainance Officers Department will
carry out the on -site inspections of RADEF Instru-
ments, and provide program assistance to improve our
monitoring and reporting capability.
