CIVIL DEFENSE COUNCIL MEETING
JANUARY 9, 1975 5:00 PM

National Guard

Item I Capt. Robert Blanz, Commander National GuTard, Co. C,
1st Battalion, presented information on current manpower
status on the National Guard and is requesting support
in terms of support of the National Guard men by their
employers in the National Guard.
Capt. Blanz authorized 116 men from Bryan (short 40 men)
authorized 44 men from Cameron---)could up
to 50 men from local area. Sgt. Randle on
duty (permanent).
The Texas State Guard is of about 50 men (Mostly A&M
students) is also headquartered on Carson St. Col.
Scott is in command of the State Guard.
Mr. Cnaglose assured Capt. Blanz of cooperation and
support.
ITEM II North Bardell suggested that wall map in Civil Defense
office be brought up to date. College Station has maps
that show the current detail on the souther end of
Brazos County.
Jake Canglose advised that the Dept. of Public Safety
is completing a county road map that shows the names of
the roads. This will help Fire Departments and all others
interested in identifying and locating points in which
they may have an interest.
It was suggested that current maps be picked up from
College Station, Bryan, Texas A &M, and University and
Brazos County for use in the CO office.
ITEM III : Mr. Jake Canglse, Brazos County Civil Defense Director
presented Lt.Col. Carroll Be11'a certificate from the
war college in Alabama in recognition of his completion
of a two year correspondence course in Military Operations
and Commands.
ITEM IV The matter of new office space was mentioned in view of
the computer now installed in the present CD office.
No new location has been allocated by County as of
this date.
ITEM V Edward Peter Madley and Scott McHolland, Community
Shelter planners from Austin will complete their
survey of Brazos County buildings by January 17th.
The data they have collected will be analyized and
reported to us as to show us protection factors for
each of the buildings.
ITEM VI : Radio for Dr. Moyer, County approved by county. Need
approved by College Station and Bryan.
