Dr. George L. Huebner has been appointed Civil Defense
Director for College Station by Mayor D.A. Anderson during
a special session of the College Station City Council meeting.
Dr. Huebner, associate professor at Texas A&M, who has
served as county communications officer in the County Civil
Defense program during the past ten years will assume the
office left vacant by Mr. John W. Hill, who moved recently
from College Station to Bryan.
Mr. Hill, Insurance and Safety Director at Texas A&M
has served a dual post as College Station and Texas A&M
Civil Defense Director since the office was established by "
the College Station City Council over ten years ago.
Mr. Hill's contribution to the College Station Emergency
planning program is to be highly commended. It was largely
through his efforts that Brazos County today has fallout
shelters for all its citizens.
Mr. Hill will continue to serve as Civil Defense Director
for Texas A&M University under appointment of President
Earl Rudder.
Mr. Hill Ihas served in this capacity for over fifteen
years.
