by Maxine Blackburn
Originally Bryan Hospital was a small
institution owned by several doctors in
the community. It was not until the
hospital was purchased by Humana, Inc.,
that changes occurred which have brought
it to its present state of a modern medical/
surgical hospital of 65 beds.
The new facility, opened four years
ago, has fifty active members on its
medical staff representing the major
specialities of medical /surgical practice as
well as courtesy and consulting staff
which include medical disciplines of
oncology, nephrology, cardiology and
nuclear medicine.
Staff personnel at Bryan Hospital
are well trained technicians and nurses
who are justifiably proud of the fact that
Bryan Hospital has been surveyed twice
since 1974 by the Joint Commission
on Accreditation of Hospitals and has
received maximum two year accreditation
each time.
Frederick R. Bailey, Administrator
makes consistent effort to acquire any -
capital equipment needed by the physi-
cians on the Staff which will improve
patient care. An example is the Phaco-
emulsifie% used for quick extraction of
certain types of cataract, used by Opthal-
mologists.
Recently Mr. Bailey has formulated
a new concept of quality patient care
which he expects to have operative by
June 1. This plan will be of utmost help
to Bryan Hospital's patients. insuring
that they receive the best care it is possi-
ble to achieve in a hospital of its size
and services.
A Volunteer Auxiliary and Student
Volunteers have been active in the
hospital for two years. People from the
community are encouraged to call the
administration office for information
about volunteer work at Bryan Hospital. 7
