Dear Mr. Cangelose:
Earlier this year the Brazos Valley Development Council began
an Areawide Comprehensive Health Planning program through a
contract with the Governor's Office of Comprehensive Health
Planning. Mrs. Pamela Stewart was employed as Health Planning
Coordinator, and a 42 member Council was established with
Dr. A. I. Flowers as the Chairman. This Council has member-
ship of equal representation from each of the seven counties
and representation from both consumer and provider health
interest.
In these recent months the Health Planning Advisory Council
has commented on legislation to the Governor's Office, has
helped people around the area with grant applications, has
compiled an inventory of health services, facilities, and man-
power around the region, has completed review and comment on
several grants, and has established eight top priority goals
to work toward in the next year.
At present the Brazos Valley Development Council is making
application to the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare
for continuing funds for this program. Up to this point, we
have received recognition by organizations and governmental
agencies. However, many of you have recognized us verbally,
and we now need written proof of this recognition to attach
to our grant application. If you concur, I would appreciate
your written acknowledgement by August 7, 1972 or shortly there-
after.
A suggested letter of recognition is enclosed. Please feel
free to express your own thinking, however.
If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact
Pamela Stewart at our office.
gar Very truly yours,
Glenn J. Cook
