Dear Judge Vance:
I respectfully submit my resignation as County Director and
Chairman of the Brazos County C:.vil Defense Office.
As you know, the appointment o� this office is made by the County
Judge A/W Brazos County Court Order dated April 13, 1959, Vol. 1,
page 243. This office also serves as the Chairmanship for the 3razos
County Civil Defense Director's staff as authorized by ordinances
of Bryan and College Station with the approval of the Mayors.
If you so desire, I will be happy to continue to carry out
these duties until you have decided who should be appointed to fill
this position.
I would also like to congratulate you on your appointment as
County Judge. I personally feel that this was an excellent choice
by the Court and we are fortunate to have a man of your integrity
filling this important position.
Enclosed are copies of letters received from the Federal and
.tate Office of Civil Dfense in regard to the fisical year 1967
Progress Report for B-:azos County.
If I can be of assistance to you in any way, please feel free
to call on me.

Dear Judge Davis:
As you know, legally my appointment as Brazos County Civil
Defense Director terminates with your appointment as District Judge.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere
appreciation for the trust and confidence that you placed in me to
carry out the duties of this office during the past 8 years.
The people of Brazos County owe you a great debt of gratitude
for the foresight, leadership, and support that you have provided
in bringing to Brazos County a comprehensive Civil Defense program.
To me, personally, it has been a privilege and a pleasure to carry out
these duties for you. Had it not been for your diligent support and
leadership, this task would have been extremely difficult.
As you know, I am truly sorry to see you leave us at the County
level; however, the integrity of our Governor reflects the true
feelings of our choice for filling the office of District Judgeship.
Please feel free to call on me at any time if you feel my services
can be of value to you.
