The Civil Defense Office of Brazos County is working actively to get more
public shelters. Every attempt will be made to include extra shielding in
new construction planned by the City, County or private firms. This folder
will be updated to take advantage of the additional protection this effort
may produce.

...to the citizens of
COLLEGE STATION, BRYAN AND BRAZOS COUNTY
This publication tells you WHERE TO GO and WHAT TO DO in case of
nuclear attack. It is a Community Shelter Plan for Brazos County. It
is based on a 90- minute maximum warning period before fallout would reach
the area. Therefore, if a warning does come, you would have a 30- minute
time period to leave your place of employment'and proceed to your home if
necessary, or possibly await arrival of your children from school. During
this 30- minute period there will be normal free traffic on all streets.
At the end of this 30- minute period, traffic will be controlled and limited
chiefly to one -way traffic leading toward shelter areas.
Regardless of where you may be when warning comes, go to your allocated
shelter, because this plan is designed to keep families and their neighbors
together.
This plan•has been developed to provide protection for you against
radiation resulting from radioactive fallout and in no way should be
interpreted to provide protection against blast and tornadoes.
The following elected officials within the County have reviewed and
approved this plan and request your cooperation by taking action as instructed
if this country is ever subjected to attack.
