HomeMy WebLinkAboutFord, George , Jr. and Ida Bell In the year of 1906, George Ford, Jr. (Uncle Bigman) was the sixth child born of George and Victoria Ford. He married Ida Bell Thompson and from this union eight children were born: George III, Samuel Allen, Pauline, Travis, Lovie Jewell, Euvon Nell, Milton Ray and Ruby Lee. During our research we learned that Uncle Bigman was notorious for praying over the evening dinner until the food got cold. And sometimes, he would pray, fall asleep then wakeup and pray again. During the years of 1942 – 1944, Uncle Bigman moved his family to Vancouver, Washignton to work on the shipyards. Uncle Bigman worked as a farmer in Brazos County raising cotton, corn peas, watermelon and sweet potatoes. And, at Roans Chapel he served as Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School and as Chairman of the Deacon Board.
