Brochures • No progress, on hold. Connections • H. Alan Montgomery has asked Project HOLD to create a weekly half hour radio program for KEOS radio. Olivia, Katie, Becky Nugent and I are considering the proposal. It may require too many man hours to tackle. Historic Preservation Committee (HPC) • No news from me. Laserfiche • Colleen and I have been spending much of our time editing and proofing all of the files in Project HOLD. Some of the earlier scans were not cropped or edited. Some of the templates were incorrect or blank. Some are placed in incorrect files or not linked to related files. Some files had not been OCR/indexed. It's a slow process but we will continue working on this. Oral History Interviews • The Oral History Team interviewed Mora Boone, a 104 year old woman with a vivid memory and total recall of early Brazos Valley events. I am still searching for software that will transcribe the tapes or cost effective digital recorders that will enter the audio directly into the computer. Project HOLD Moment in History • The June issue of the PH Moment in History went out the last week of June. The topics were summertime, polio, and the Huck Finns of the Brazos. City of College Station -1/2- 7/5/2006 Texas in WWII • Our entry for the Texas Municipal League Spirit Award was placed in the wrong category by the judges. They did not consider placing it in the proper category for judging. They are returning all six of our application notebooks. On the bright side, these application notebooks are a good example of our work on Texas in WWII. Volunteers • Please continue to send in your hours so that I may document them in the Points of Light foundation database. • Mary Berri, our new volunteer, is working on the newspaper clippings and will be learning to scan. . • Ruth Bramson will be working on a letter to be mailed out to local churches asking for their church histories or updates on histories we may have already placed into Project HOLD. In the Fall, we will do the same with some of the older businesses in the area. Also, later in the year, I would like to do the same with local organizations. City of College Station -2/2- 7/5/2006
