HomeMy WebLinkAboutAggieland 1969 Dedication to J Gordon Gay Dedication This year's yearbook is dedicated to Mr. J. Gordon Gay who has devoted over 40 years of his life to Texas A &M and the YMCA. Mr. Gay passed into semi - retirement last year, but he still remains active at the YMCA. Under Mr. Gay, the ideas of Religious Emphasis Week, and Freshman YMCA Camp became reali- ties. In 1956, he was honored with the Association of Former Students Award for Distinguished Achievements in Student Relations and twice received a Student Achievement Award. In 1957 he became coordinator of religious life, as well as YAACA general secretary, a post which he had then held for five years. Mr. Gay helped develop a recreation center in Hensel Park and was well -known for the steak frys he held there. Mr. Gay is the father of four sons and was very active in Scouting, having served as chairman and as treasurer of a troop committee. He was a member of the official board of the A &M Methodist Church and has been a Sunday School superintendent for 25 years there. The Education Building of the church was named in his honor.
