VL OTHER COMMITTEE CONCERNS:
The Corp of Cadets' is constructing a "Hall of Honor Museum" which will qualify
for a Subject Marker. Gary is working with Buck Anderson to prepare the
document to send to the County Commission.
The Agriculture Extension Service, which is 75 years old, is also working on a
Subj ect Marker.
Joan has a friend, Tex Owens, who belongs to the Historical Railroad Society
and their group is renovating a railroad car to give to the City of Temple. She
told him that the Historical Committee would love to have the railroad car if
they don't want it.
David spoke with a couple in town, Bob and Kay Poling, who recently purchased
a 75 year old house on Bird Pond Road. They were inquiring about funding
resources to help with the renovation costs of their house. Eric stated that he
researched for possible funds for the restoration of historic homes and none were
available. Most funding programs for historic home restoration no longer exists.
The Committee would like to receive applications on two historic homes: 1712
Glade and 1700 Laura Lane. Gary will contact Pete and Laura Fitch Norman
who own the first house.
There will be no meetings for the month of July or August, unless otherwise
notified.

Dear Dr. Schultz:
I am writing to inform you that we have ordered the above - referenced marker for casting. :-
The completed marker should be ready for shipment within 10 weeks. A copy of the final -
inscription as it was sent to the foundry is enclosed for your files.
According to our records, the marker should be shipped to the address above. If these
instructions have changed during the marker process, please let me know as soon as
possible so that I may notify the foundry.
If you have not already done so, this would be a good time to begin planning the marker
dedication ceremony. (A guide to planning a dedication ceremony is'available from our
office upon request.) Since this is a state program, we suggest that your state senator
and /or representative be included in the program, as well as your county judge and
commissioners who have appointed your county historical commission.
Please avoid setting the dedication date until the marker is received. The estimated
shipping date above does not take potential shipping problems or other unforeseen delays
into account, and the best laid dedication plans could be upset if planned around this
time estimate. We will notify you and all parties listed below once the marker has been
shipped from the foundry, and at that time we will also send all parties a form for
announcing the dedication in the preservation calendar of the THC's monthly newsletter,_
The Medallion.
Again, please let he know if there has been a change in the shipping address, or if you
would like a marker dedication guide.

!Martin " "' The Brazos Heritage Society is undertaking an effort
" " '' to publish an up -to -date "Guide to Historic Brazos
County." We envision a booklet or brochure with four
Jack and Mugg,Gardner sections, one for each city, one for Texas A &M, and one
JerryandMarvGaatm for the remaining historic sites in Brazos County. We
Gary and Litula Haller anticipate that the Convention and Visitor's Bureau would
'''' and Pat !filer be the primary point of distribution. I have been told
SaraJarvi.Jones that the Bureau receives numerous requests for such a
Sol and Felice Klein guide, which it cannot fill. These requests are expected
IrtleatalJittaKtmlxl to increase with the construction of the Bush Library, as

me, and " Beck) McIntyre solicit both a letter of support for this project as well
JosiMumemavur as a pledge of $1,000.00 to assist with expenses. I am
Louis and Karen Newman seeking support from the county, the historical
