HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/23/1991 - Regular Minutes - Historic Preservation Committee HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 23, 1991, 7:00 PM CENTRAL PARK CONFERENCE ROOM MEMBERS PRESENT: Gary Halter, Chairman; Joan Lampkin, Lois Beach, Roger Feldman. STAFF PRESENT: Ric Ploeger, Assistant Director of Parks; Sheryl Laskie, Administrative Secretary. I. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chairman Gary Halter at 7:04 pm. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Lois moved for approval of minutes. Joan seconded. All in favor. Minutes approved III. APPROVAL OF HISTORICAL BROCHURE: Sheryl passed around copies of the Historical Brochure. The first notice of a change was the key for the Historical Buildings on the A &M Campus: 41 - Academic Building, 42 - Nagle Building, 43 - Systems Building, 44 - Scoates Building, 45 - Chemistry Building, 46 - Halbouty Building. Gary will talk to Steve about the brochure. Changes are to be made for final draft and will be presented at the next meeting. IV. OTHER BUSINESS/BOARD CONCERNS: The application for Lincoln School was turned down because it did not meet the criteria of at least 75 years. Gary presented the Application for a Historical Marker from Eric and Lanette Schulte (Shepherdson House). Lois motioned to approve this application and make it Historic House #1. Joan seconded. All in favor. Application approved. Gary will call Eric and let him know that his application has been approved. The Historic House marker will be presented together with the Building Historic marker. Gary will talk to the recipients to determine the presentation date. Gary will also talk to Charlie about the invitation list. Lois mentioned that more people need to get involved with the Committee. Gary will check with Connie Hooks to see if any more applications for the Historical Committe have come in. Gary talked with Larry Hill, Head of the History Department to get some of his students to work on some projects such as Easterwood Airport and the Railroad Station for Historical Markers. The next meeting will February 13, 1991. VII. ADJOURN: Gary adjourned the meeting at 7:55 pm. lc ,` r0 E �. Please read the form carefully; the Medallion staff must receive your notice well in advance in order to meet printing deadlines. We would appreciate having photocopies of any newspaper clippings (rather than the original clippings, which aren't archivaily stable), as well as copies of programs, photos, or other memorabilia about the dedication ceremony to complete our file on this marker.
