Youths Going
To ,Jr. Lulac
Seven young people from
'Brazos County will take official
part in the deliberations of the
Junior Lulac national conven-
tion at the Commodore Perry
Hotel in Austin August 17
through 19.
David Garcia is chairman of
the local delegation, which in-
eludes Paul Quintero and Tony
Cruz as delegates and Mary Ber-
nal, Mary Lena Moncivais and
Johnny Rocha as alternates.
Rudy Rodriguez, an A&M
student from Houston, is the
present national chaplain and
will be running for national
vice-president.
Miss Bernal, who is treasurer
of the local council, is also its
sweetheart and will be a candi-
date for the national sweetheart,
who will be chosen at the Sat-
urday night dance.
Miss Moncivais is local treas-
urer and Cruz is local chaplain.
About 30 councils are ex-
pected to be represented. Satur-
day's meeting will be in the
State Capitol, and a farewell
picnic will be held Sunday at
Barton Springs. All other ses-
sions will be in the hotel.
