Dear Mr. Vivero,
My name is Brian Carusella, and I am in the process of writing a book. The central theme of the book is the
type of improvised radio receiver constructed by some servicemen during World War II using odds and
ends and salvaged components. The book is larger in scope and will span several decades, but these
"foxhole receivers" are the unifying thread.
During World War Two there were quite
a few articles about these in newspapers
and magazines across the country. One .,4 I
appeared in a photograph in the San + r
Antonio Express of December 21, 1944 ~l
(see attached) and featured Pfc. Elias
Vivero and Pfc. Huel Butler.t z~
