The AASLH Leadership in History Awards is the nation's most prestigious competition for recognidon of achievement in state and local history. We congratulate you for the work that has brought this honor. The 2009 awards will be presented at a special banquet on Saturday, August 29 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., as part of the AASLH annual meeting mi Indianapolis, Indiana. We cordially invite you to attend this presentation to receive your award. The enclosed material provides details regarding this event. Thanks to a generous donation from the History Channel, one ticket to the awards banquet for your organization is covered. If you would like to bring guests to the banquet, you may purchase additional tickets at $55 each. In addition to your award, AASLH would like to invite you to attend one day of the annual meeting as our guest. To obtain your complimentary day pass for attendance on Saturday, August 29, complete the enclosed award winner registration form and mail it to AASLH, 1717 Church Street, Nashville, TN 37203. You are also welcome to register for an additional day or for the whole meeting. Enclosed is a copy of the 2009 Annual Meeting Program Guide. You can receive the "early bird" rate for the meeting by registering before July 6, 2009. Otherwise, regular registration will be accepted until July 27. You must make hotel reservations by July 31 to receive the annual meeting discount. See page 27 of the program guide for hotel information, or go to www.aaslh.org. If you plan to join us in Indianapolis, please send us an image representing your award- winning project to include in a presentation at the banquet. You can send these images to Bethany Hawkins in the AASLH office at hawkins@aaslh.org. YOUR HOME FOR STATE AND LOCAL HISTORY If you cannot attend the presentation in Indianapolis, AASLH will arrange for the delivery of your award later. By mid June, AASLH will contact national media with information about the 2009 awards. We will email you a copy of the press release announcing your award-winning project by the end of June. Since this is such a prestigious award, we encourage you to send this release to your local media, convention and visitors' bureau, and state and local government.
