Call meeting to order and consider absence requests. With a quorum present, the Historic Preservation Committee was called to order by Louis Hodges on Monday, June 03, 2024, at 4 p.m. Gerald Burgner, Tom Turbiville and Lisa Mouton requested an absence, upon a motion made by Sherry Frisk and seconded by Comer Patterson the requests were approved. 2. Hear visitors. None. 3. Agenda Items 3.1 Presentation, discussion, and the possible approval of minutes from the previous meeting. Upon a motion made by Sherry Frisk and seconded by Tre Watson the minutes were approved as written. 3.2 A. Cemetery Sherry Frisk reported that she volunteered to help put flags out on Memorial Day, she also mentioned that she will talk to Kelsey Heiden, Director of Parks and Recreation in regard to this committee having a budget. B. Historical Marker Program/Project HOLD Report Kimberly McNally is in the process of uploading 3D photos of coins and lapel pins into Project Hold, she is also working on some oral history interviews. C. Exploring History Lunch Series Carla Elliot is in the process of finding speakers for 2025, she currently has two speakers lined out, she stated she is not having much luck. The members gave her some ideas that she will work on. D. American Mile Comer Patterson brought some history books to look through regarding significate events, he noticed some errors on the current bricks. The committee said they would focus on blank brick information first and look into changing the incorrect data on the bricks at a later time. Lone Star Legacy Park designation Sherry and a couple of the members are gathering data for the Brison Park application, only 65 parks in Texas currently have the Lone Star Legacy Park designation which is awarded through TRAPS. F. America’s 250 The dedication for the Never Forget Garden was a tremendous success. G. Neighborhood interviews No report. 3.3 Report by the Liaison of Parks and Recreation on matters pertaining to the Historic Preservation Board. No report. 3.4 Identification of upcoming local or area historical programs Linda Harvel would like the HPC to rotate items in the display case at City Hall quarterly. 4. Discussion and possible action of future agenda items. None. 5. Presentation of historical items Louis Hodges passed around a magazine. 6. Adjourn. Upon a motion made by Comer Patterson and a second by Tre Watson, the HPC voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting @ 5:21 p.m.
