HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-0981 - Ordinance - 10/09/1975ORDINANCE NO. 981 AN ORDINANCE FIXING, DETERMINING, AND REGULATING THE MAXIMUM RATES FOR LOCAL TELEPHONE SERVICE THAT GENERAL TELEPHONE COMPANY OF THE SOUTHWEST MAY CHARGE FOR ITS SERVICES WITHIN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS; FREEZING THE OFFERING OF FOUR -PARTY SERVICE WITHIN THE CITY; CONDITIONING THESE RATES UPON THE AGREEMENT OF THE TELEPHONE COMPANY THAT IT WILL NOT FILE AGAIN WITH THE CITY FOR INCREASED RATES PRIOR TO SEPTEMBER 1, 1976; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS: Section 1. That the following rates are fixed and determined by the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas, to be the maximum rates for extended area telephone service in the City of College Station, Texas, that General Telephone Company of the Southwest may charge for its services in said City of College Station, Texas. Class of Service Flat Monthly Rate Business: Individual Line Service $15.90 Two -Party Line Service 12.82 Extension 2.00 Residence: Individual Line Service 7.57 Two -Party Line Service 6.31 Four -Party Line Service 5.02 Extension 1.25 Semipublic 15.90 Key Line 18.11 PBX Trunk 23.82 Section 2. That General Telephone Company of the Southwest is hereby authorized to charge the following rates for miscellaneous items of service; Coin Telephone Nonpublished Number Service Connection: Residence Business $ .25 1.00 Per Month 30.00 40.00 and the charges under Section 41 of the Texas General Exchange Tariffs of General Telephone Company of the Southwest, such items being those filed with the City as providing $146,694 of the revenue allowed herein (except that the monthly color charge may be continued, making the total amount of the increase granted herein to be derived from miscellaneous services $163,000) as of the cutoff date of June 30, 1974, and such other items for miscellaneous services as are now being charged in College Station, Texas, as provided by the Texas General Exchange Tariffs of General Telephone Company of the Southwest. Section 3. That General Telephone Company of the Southwest, from and after October 1, 1975, may freeze the offering of four -party service within the City; i.e.-, the Telephone Company will continue to provide the four -party service presently received by customers, but will not be required to offer four -party service to nely customers or provide additional four -party service to present customers. LZD ORDINANCE NO. 981 Page 2 1975. Section 4. That these rates shall be effective as of the 1st day of October, Section 5. That the rates set forth herein are permitted and agreed to upon the agreement of General Telephone Company of the Southwest that it will not file another general rate application requesting an increase in rates prior to September 1, 1976 (at which time all jurisdiction over telephone rates in Texas will be vested in the Texas Public Utility Commission). Section 6. That the Ordinance adopted September 25, 1975, and any other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 7. That nothing in this Ordinance contained shall be construed in any manner, now or hereafter, as limiting, enlarging, or otherwise modifying the statutory right and power of the City Council to lawfully regulate rates charged for telephone service within the City of College Station, Texas.
