AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 901, SAID ORDINANCE KNOWN AS AN ORDINANCE
REGULATING AMBULANCE SERVICE IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION; PROVIDING DEFINITIONS;
PROVIDING FOR ISSUANCE OF PERMIT; PROVIDING FOR THE CONTENTS OF APPLICATION FOR
FRANCHISE; PROVIDING FOR A HEARING BEFORE THE CITY COUNCIL; PROVIDING FOR THE
PAYMENT OF TAXES; PROVIDING FOR LIABILITY INSURANCE; PROVIDING FOR INSPECTION
OF BOOKS AND RECORDS; PROVIDING FOR A RATE SCHEDULE; MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO FALSIFY
AN AMBULANCE SUMMONS; MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO FAIL TO PAY AMBULANCE FEE; PROVIDING
A PENALTY; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS:
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council that Section 3,
paragraph d, of Ordinance No. 901 should be amended to reflect a desirable
level of ambulance service.
THEREFORE, it is ordered and ordained that Section 3, paragraph d, of Ordinance
No. 901 be amended as follows:
Section 3. Permit - Application
d. A statement that every ambulance when in service shall be accompanied
by at least one person who has acquired theoretical or practical knowledge in
first aid as certified by the American Red Cross, evidenced by a certificate
issued to such person by the State Board of Health, and further that this attendant
shall be in the ambulance in a position to render aid to the patient while being
transported.
The fact that Ordinance No. 901 is obsolete with respect to Section 3, paragraph
d creates an emergency and urgent public necessity and this ordinance is
hereby finally passed as an emergency ordinance on the date of its introduction.
