ORDINANCE NO. 842
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE QUESTION OF RE-
ZONING A 15.649 ACRE TRACT OF LAND LOCATED IN THE J. E. SCOTT LEAGUE,
BRAZOS COUNTY, TEXAS FROM DISTRICT NO. 1, FIRST DWELLING HOUSE
DISTRICT TO DISTRICT NO. 3, APARTMENT HOUSE DISTRICT AND MORE PARTI-
CULARLY DESCRIBED BY METES AND BOUNDS IN THE BODY OF THIS ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION,
TEXAS:
WHEREAS, the City Planning and Zoning Commission has recommended that all
land described herein be rezoned from District No. 1, First Dwelling House District
to District No. 3, Apartment House District.
It is hereby ordered that a public hearing shall be held at the City Hall in College
Station at 7 :00 P. M. on Monday, October 23, 1972, on the question of rezoning
certain areas within the city limits as follows:
A 15.649 acre tract or parcel of land lying and being situated in the J. E. Scott League,
Brazos County, Texas, and being part of the 17.25 acre tract conveyed by H. E.
Burgess to R. A. Burke by deed recorded in Volume 129, Page 621 of the Deed Records
of Brazos County, Texas and being more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a concrete monument found marking in the south or southwest corner
of said 17.25 acre tract and a common corner with the Texas A &M University land;
Thence N 42 14.7' W along the southwest line of the abovementioned 17.25 acre
tract and a common line with the abovementioned University land at a distance of
1, 335.78 feet past a found concrete monument, continue along said line for a total
distance of 1, 861.72 feet to a concrete monument found for corner, said concrete
monument being located in the southeast right -of -way line of Farm -to- Market Road
No. 2347 (Jersey Street), said corner being the most westerly corner of said Burke
17.25 acre tract and a common corner with the Texas A &M University land;
Thence N 44 32.9' E along the abovementioned southeast right -of -way line for a
distance of 746.61 feet to a concrete monument for corner in the westerly right -of-
way line of the I &GN Railroad (Abandoned);
Thence S 19 30' E along said westerly right -of -way line for a distance of 202.13
feet to a concrete monument for corner, said concrete monument being located in
the northwest line of a 1.257 acre tract out of the beforementioned 17.25 acre tract;
Thence S 15 03.8' W continue along said fence for a distance of 14.27 feet to a concrete
monument for corner;
Thence S 19 30.0' E along an old fence found marking the southwest line of the before -
mentioned 1.257 acre tract for a distance of 123.91 feet to a concrete monument found
for corner;

Thence N 70 30.0' E along an old fence found marking the southeast line of the
abovementioned 1.257 acre tract for a distance of 228.00 feet to a concrete monu-
ment found for corner, said concrete monument being located in the beforementioned
westerly right -of -way line of the I &GN Railroad (Abandoned);
Thence S 19 30.0' E along the abovementioned westerly right -of -way line for a distance
of 1, 528. 93 feet to a concrete monument for angle point;
Thence S 70 30. 0' W for a distance of 1.54 feet to the PLACE of BEGINNING and
containing 15.649 acres of land more or less from District No. 1, First Dwelling
House District to District No. 3, Apartment House District.
Notice of said hearing shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in
the City of College Station at least three times, the first publication of which shall
not be less than 15 days prior to the date fixed for the hearing.
