AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, ORDERING A SPECIAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF COLLEGE STATION ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER
14, 1971 FOR THE ELECTION OF A COUNCILMAN FOR PLACE 2 TO FILL A VACANCY
CREATED BY THE RESIGNATION OF JAMES H. DOZIER FOR THE PERIOD ENDING WITH
THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF APRIL 4, 1972; FIXING THE TIME, PLACE AND MANNER
OF HOLDING THE ELECTION AND APPOINTING JUDGES AND CLERKS THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of College Station, Texas:
A special election shall be and the same is hereby ordered to be held on Tuesday,
December 14, 1971 for the purpose of electing a councilman for Place 2 to fill a vacancy
created by the resignation of James H. Dozier for the period ending with the municipal
election of April 4, 1972.
The election will be held at the following places and the election officials shall be,
for the purpose of this election as follows:
Polling Place No. 1, at A&M Consolidated School Music Room, in said City, with
L. G. Jones as Presiding Judge, and Sarah Holmgreen, Alternate Judge, and said Pre-
siding Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist him.
Polling Place No. 2, College Station City Fire Station, in said City, with Mrs.
George Draper as Presiding Judge, and Mrs. E. D. Parnell, Alternate Judge, and
said Presiding Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist her.
Polling Place No. 3, at the City of College Station Old City Hall, at 101 Church
Street, in said City, with W. H. Freiberger as Presiding Judge, and E. L. Harrington,
Alternate Judge, and said Presiding Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist him.
The polls shall be opened promptly at 8 o'clock a.m. , and shall be closed promptly
at 7 o'clock p.m.
The election will be held under the provisions of the laws of the State of Texas
governing special elections, and only duly qualified voters who are residents of the City
of College Station shall be allowed to vote.
Copies of this Ordinance, signed by the Mayor and attested by the Assistant City
Secretary, shall, when posted at three public places in the City of College Station, serve
as proper notice of said election.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 4th day of November, 1971.
