The city will celebrate this event at a birthday party on October 19, 2008, at Veterans Park. Help us celebrate this 70th birthday by entering a card, poster or essay in the 70th Birthday Party Contest. LET YOUR IMAGINATIONS RUN WILD! Design a birthday card to the City of College Station. For all ages of children through 6th grade. Cards should be no larger than 8-1/2" x 11" when folded. medium is allowed: crayons, paints, markers, etc. Must contain the words: Happy 70th Birthday College Station! GET CREATIVE! Design a birthday poster to the City of College Station. For students in 7 - 8th grades. Posters should be no larger than 11" x 17" medium is allowed: crayons, paints, markers, etc. Must contain the words: Happy 70th Birthday College Station! HAVE FUN! ~ Write an essay commemorating the 70th birthday of College Station. Essay ideas: College Station history, early settlers, the future of College Station, why you like living in College Station, what would you do to improve College Station. For students in grades 9-12. Essays should be no less than 500 words, typed, single spaced, 12 pt. ALL ENTRIES ARE DUE NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 3, 2008. Include full name, address, city, state, zip code, age, E-mail, and phone with each entry. Entries maybe dropped off or mailed to College Station Conference Center, 1300 George Bush Drive, College Station, TX 77840. Hours: Sam - 5pm, Monday through Friday. All entries receive a certificate of appreciation. Winners will receive certificates, ribbons and special prizes. Entries will be displayed at the birthday party and archived on the Project HOLD website, the City of College Station's historic online library database at http://HOLD.cstx.gov.
