Ernie initiated discussion of promoting Project HOLD during the sign in and luncheon portions of the lectures. Anne will check with Peggy to arrange for the projector set up for viewing the Project HOLD CD as well as a computer at the sign in table for website viewing and possible tutorials by volunteers. It was suggested by Haskell that we give some sort of simple thank you gift to our speakers. The photograph of Northgate in the 20s during a snow storm was deemed an acceptable subject. Anne said that the photo can be printed in house and placed in a COCS mat. Anne will check with Peggy to see if this is a viable solution to thank our speakers. Agenda Item #6 Historic Markers Meredith reported that she and Hillary are in the process of verifying current ownership of historic marker homes. Anne gave Meredith a CD made last year by Jerry Cooper of current photos of all the Campus Houses. Meredith and Hillary will do a mailing to all prospective historic home marker candidates. Anne will print the existing marker brochures for them to include in their mailing. Anne mentioned a possible marker application that may be filed for Minter Springs Cemetery where many notable area settlers are buried including the Barrons, Straubs, Fuquars, Neeleys, etc. The Fuquar headstone is of a veteran of the Mexican-American War. Agenda Item #7 Oral History Project Haskell suggested that we do a mailing to local churches, social organizations, veterans groups, etc. soliciting names of prospective interviewees. He expressed some concern that the digital recorders needed to also have a personal microphone for the interviewee. Anne will give Haskell and Bill a list of interview candidates that she has collected. Discussion ensued about the difficulty of editing and rewriting the original oral history interviews. It may be that we will preface each interview with a definition of a memoir and explanation that the histories may contain some errors. Anne mentioned the new (unpaid) intern due to start in late May. The intern will be assigned to the Oral History Project. Agenda Item # 8: Project HOLD In the interest of time, Anne referred the members to the Project HOLD Progress Report included in their packets. She highlighted the fact that we have added links to Cushing Digital Archives and the Sam Houston Sanders Corps Center on the Project HOLD home page.
