past, but all employees are welcome to attend. The class includes a 4 hour classroom session
followed by 1/2 hour driving evaluation to determine the student's awareness behind the wheel.
Also associated with the class will be a program to train evaluation drivers. Risk will notify
Mgt. Team of the exact dates and times of the training.
2. Review Coversheets for June 28th Council Meeting: Glenn Brown, Assistant City Manager,
reviewed the agenda coversheets for the June 28th City Council meeting.
3. Budget '02: Tom Brymer, City Manager, discussed the proposed 2002 budget. He distributed
the underutilized vehicle list and asked directors to contact him if they disagreed with the
vehicles being cut from their department. He also informed the team that performance measures
will be discussed during departmental budget meetings. The discussion will be to determine the
usefulness of current measures and any possible future changes. The measures are a Council
policy and departments should take them seriously.
4. Internal Survey: Jeff Kersten, OB&SP Manager, distributed the 2001 Internal Survey. The
purpose of the survey is to determine employee satisfaction with internal customer service. The
OB&SP distributed 200 surveys and received 134 responses. Jeff asked the team to review the
responses and use them to improve departmental policies.
5. Agenda Planning Calendar: Glenn Brown reviewed the calendar and items were added and
rescheduled.
6. ICMA Best Practices Recognition: Glenn Brown informed the team that the City should
submit an application outlining one of the Cities policies/practices for the ICMA Best Practices
Symposium in April 2002 in Kansas City Missouri. The team discussed some possible topics
such as Performance Measures, Strategic Plan, Neighborhood Planning, and BVSWMA. No
action was taken on what program to present.
7. Direct Deposit: Charles Cryan, Fiscal Services Director, informed the team that as of July 1st
accounting will no longer be distributing paychecks. Approximately 80 employees must either
sign up for direct deposit or pick their checks up at City Hall between the hours of 11:00 am and
2:00 pm on payday. Those checks that are not picked up at 2:00 pm will be mailed to the
employee. Check stub for those employees on direct deposit will be delivered via interoffice
mail on payday.
8. Upcoming Training: Julie O'Connell, HR Director, reminded the team of the July 27th Mgt.
