Paul E, Williams, age 76,
of Bryan went to be with
the Lord on Wednesday.
January 18, 2006, at
St. Joseph's Regional
Health Center. Paul was
bnrn April 30, 1929, in
Walthal, Mississippi.
After graduating from
Tupeln Higb School, Paul
served his country during
the Korean Conflict from
1950-54 as a 20d Class Petty
Officer in the US, Navy, He then
attended the University of Southern
Mississippi where he met and married the
love of his life, C~herine Miller. After graduating with a B.S
in Education, in 1956 he began a distinguished 3 I-year career
serving public schools in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Paul
earned his Master's Degree from George Peabody College in
Nashville, Tennessee. His career began with teaching sixth grade
and then special education in Port Arthur, Texas. He worked for
the state of Texas with the Texas Rehabilitation Commission and
Texas Education Agency, both in Bryan and Austin. He was able
to use his love of piloting while in Austin working with special
education programs throughout the state as his family remained
in Bryan. He completed his career as Director of Special
Education in San Jacinto County and retired in 1987.
Paul touched the lives of many in Bryan~College Station as he
and Catherine built a successful rental property business. He was
a member of First Baptist Church of Bryan, ABF Sunday School
class, was active in the Bryan Noon Lions Club and enjoyed
participating in its Flags over the Brazos program for many
years. Memberships also included Retired Teacher's Association
and theAmerican Legion. His love of travel took him all over the
United States, Europe and the Far East. Throughout his life he
was able to enjoy the unique gift of playing the piano and other
instruments by ear. Paul's life was exemplified by an enthusiasm
for life, quick wit, and an overriding love of God, family and his
fellow man. He lived his life with Christian integrity and honesty,
and welcomed opportunities to share his faith. .
Paul was preceded in death by parents, William Estelleand Lena
Drlean Williams and Brother Fred. He is survived by his beloved
wife of 50 years, Catherine of Bryan; a son and daughter~in~law,
Bill and Marian Williams of Bryan; a daughter and son~in~law,
Pam' and Miles Keefer of Houston; a brother and sister-in.law,
lW and Nell Williams of Amory, Miss.; a sister-in-law, Nora
Williams of Ocean Springs, Miss.; grandson Byron Rippstein of
College Station; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at
Hillier Funeral Home. Dr. Tim Owens, First Baptist Church of
Bryan, will officiate. Burial will follow at the College Station
CeiIietery. .
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00
p.m, at Hillier. Pall-bearers will be Pat Butler,Alton (Nap) Cole,
Don Hall, Bill Thornton Jr., Joe Salvato, Alec Siebert, Tom Wallis
and Jim Whitley.
