Cadets at Texas A. and M. C Return to Prewar Strength
AN HONORARY COLONELCY in the Texas A. and M. Corps
of Cadets was awarded to Reserve First Lt. Audie Murphy, left
above facing camera, the most decorated hero of World War II,
at the review. The award is being made by Cadet Col. Robert
McClure of Texarkana, commandant of the corps.
NIGH RANKING officials were in the reviewing stand for the
colorful cadet parade. Shown above, left to right, are Congress-
man Olin Teague, in whose district A. and M. is located; Dr. F.
C. Bolton, president of A. and M.; Maj. Gen. J. A. Gascoigne,
deputy commander of the British army staff mission in Wash-
ington; G. R. White of Brady, president of the A. and M.
board of directors, and Maj. Gen. Harry H. Vaughan, aide to
President Truman.

PRESENTATION OF DATES to the visiting dignitaries was
made by the cadets during the ball. Cadet Col. John E. Orr of

ton and his date, Miss Bobby Ruth Smith of New Gulf, who
was one of the six chosen as sweethearts of the 8500 Texas
A. and M. students. Pictures of the beauties will appear in the
