University. ,Mr. Duncan was the
food service director in the 1930's
and 40's and Mrs. Duncan the
hostess at the Board of Directors
house. Duncan Dining Center,
~ocated in the Cadet Corps area of campus, is named in his honor.
The family lived in the Board of Directors home so Margaret grew up
on the campus. Margaret was a member of the first graduating class of I
A&M Consolidated School. She was also among the first women allowed
to attend classes at A&M because her parents were staff members.

Margaret and Percy James Mims met and courted on campus, riding
h~rses fr<!m the school's stables and attending social and sporting events.
Percy, class of 1932, was a.track star. She was honored by being named
Duchess of the A&M Cotton Ball 1932. Margaret also attended the
University of Texas.
They were married in Guion Hall on the campus of Texas 'A&M
University October 12, 1935. His career in the military and the Veterans
Affairs department took them to several locations including Seminole and .
Claude, Texas; Arlington, Yirginia; Bolling Field Air Force Base,
Washington D.G; Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Waco. They built
a retirement home in College Station in 1972 on land purchased by her
parents in the 1920's and resided there for over 25 years. She was an activ,e
member of the A&M United Methodist Church, including the Women's
Circle.
Margaret was involved in many of their children's activities including
Boy Scouts, Camp Fire, drill team, pep squad and an was MYF sponsor
while in San Antonio. She and Percy especially enjoyed the Round Dance
I club activities and conventions.

wife Mollie of Cleburne, Texas and their children William Mims, Edward
Mims, Buffie. Edwards and husband Wesley and Jeremy Bradbury and
, wife :\my; and daugh,ter Nancy MimsLowe and husband Doug Lowe of ,
Havertown, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Mims was preceded in death by her
husband on January 31, 1998.
A memorial service will be held 10 A.M. Monday, October 31,2005,
at A&M United Methodist Church, '417 University Drive, College ~..
Station. Calloway Jones Funeral Home, 3001S. College Ave, Bryan, ~
Texas is in charge of the arrangements.
The family suggest donations be directed to support the remodeling
project at Duncan Dining Center, Texas A&M Foundation, 401 George
Bush Drive, College Station, Texas 77840 (note: Duncan Renovation -
Corps) or to the A&M United Methodist Church, 417 University Dri~e,
College Station 77840.
