Staff Present: Michael Isermann, Assistant Director; Andrea Lauer, Business
Services Manager; Luis Perez, Recreation Supervisor: Alyssa Shaw, Admin. Support Specialist
Board Present: Gerald Burgner, Louis Hodges, Sherry Frisk, Ben White, Lisa
Mouton, Tre Watson, Jessica Williams via Zoom
Unexcused Absence: Gary Halter
Council Members Present: None
1. Call meeting to order and consider absence requests.
With a quorum present, the History Preservation Committee Board was called
to order by Gerald Burgner on Monday, July 10, 2023, at 4 p.m. Tom
Turbiville, requested an absence. Upon a motion from Lou Hodges and a second by Sherry Frisk the Historic Preservation Committee voted to approve
the absence request. The motion passed unanimously.
2. Hear visitors. None.
3. Agenda Items
3.1 Presentation, discussion, and the possible approval of minutes from
the previous meeting.
Upon a motion from Lou Hodges and a second by Ben White, the Historic
Preservation Committee approved the minutes as written for June 2023. 3.2
A. Cemetery
Sherry Frisk mentioned that the Dedication for the State Marker is tentatively set for September 8th @ 10 a.m. this date is also the
Southside 100th Anniversary. She is working with Stephan in Parks to
help with set-up and Sherry is working on getting the speakers lined up.
B. Historical Marker Program
Lou Hodges mentioned that one family was filing out the application but
might need help.
C. Exploring History Lunch Series
Luis Perez mentioned that the cost will go from $7 to $10 in September.
D. Project HOLD Report
Meaghan O’Rourke has been helping Rachel Mayor with the History Wall in City Hall. She also is trying to return some pictures from Project Hold to
Debbie Cooper.

F. History Wall in City Hall
Ross Brady and Rachel Mayor went over the project that they have been working on for City Hall, the project will show significant events in College
Station’s History and be displayed on the walls in City Hall.
G. America’s 250
Sherry Frisk said that the fundraising efforts are moving along for the
Never Forget Garden, and they are in the process of collecting money for
the bricks, and the concrete has been poured.
H. 85th Birthday of City of College Station
The date is set for October 19th, Jessica is working on the scavenger hunt.
3.3 Report by the Liaison of Parks and Recreation on matters pertaining
to the Historic Preservation Board.
Michael Isermann, Assistant Director was introduced to the Board.
3.4 Identification of upcoming local or area historical programs or None
4. Discussion and possible action of future agenda items. None
5. Presentation of historical items
Lou Hodges and Sherry Frisk passed around items.
6. Adjourn.
Upon a motion from Ben White and a second from Sherry Frisk, the Historic
Preservation Committee adjourned the meeting @ 5:03 p.m., the motion
passed unanimously.
