Call meeting to order and consider absence requests. With a quorum present, the History Preservation Committee Board was called to order by Lou Hodges on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 4:05 p.m. Tom Turbiville, Jessica Williams and Gerald Burgner requested an absence. Upon a motion from Ben White and a second by Tre Watson the Historic Preservation Committee voted to approve the absence requests. The motion passed unanimously. 2. Hear visitors. None. 3. Agenda Items 3.1 Presentation, discussion, and the possible approval of minutes from the previous Meeting. Upon a motion from Sherry Frisk and a second by Lisa Mouton, the Historic Preservation Committee voted to approve the May minutes as written. The motion passed unanimously. 3.2 A. Cemetery Sherry Frisk mentioned that the Dedication for the State Marker is tentatively set for September 8th @ 10 a.m. this date is also the Southside 100th Anniversary. She is working with Stephan in Parks to help with set-up and Sherry is working on getting the speakers lined up. B. Historical Marker Program Lou Hodges mentioned that there are a couple of applications in the works, but no new applications at this time. Lisa Mouton worked with the Committee to come up with changes to the application. Upon a motion from Tre Watson and a second by Sherry Frisk the Committee agreed to bring these changes to Legal and Council: change 20 to 25 years in all categories and to add the wording “or may operate in a different location from where it was originally founded as long as it still operates in College Station” in Section 1. Enterprise under Subject Marker Criteria. C. Exploring History Lunch Series Lisa Mouton stated that April 2024 will be CSISD History students. D. Project HOLD Report No Update E. America’s 250 Sherry Frisk said that the fundraising efforts are moving along for the Never Forget Garden, and they are in the process of collecting money for the bricks, and the concrete has been poured. 3.3 Report by the Liaison of Parks and Recreation on matters pertaining to the Historic Preservation Committee. No update. 3.4 Identification of upcoming local or area historical programs or activities to be Placed in a calendar of events. Dedication for State Marker for Cemetery tentatively set for September 8th @ 10 a.m. 4. Discussion and possible action of future agenda items. Upon a motion from Ben White and a second by Sherry Frisk the Historical Preservation Committee agreed to move the July meeting to the second Monday which is the 10th. The motion passed unanimously. 5. Presentation of historical items Lou Hodges passed around some coins. 6. Adjourn. Upon a motion from Lisa Mouton and a second from Tre Watson, the Historic Preservation Committee adjourned the meeting @ 4:43 p.m., the motion passed unanimously.
