Unexcused Absence: Tre Watson
Council Members Present: Linda Harvell
1. Call meeting to order and consider absence requests.
With a quorum present, the History Preservation Committee Board was called to order by
Chair Gerald Burgner on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 4 p.m.
2. Hear visitors. None.
3. Agenda Items
3.1 Presentation, discussion, and the possible approval of minutes from the previous
Meeting.
The minutes were approved. All were in favor, and the motion passed unanimously.
3.2
A. Cemetery
Sherry Frisk mentioned that she is in the process of planning the dedication date and
ceremony for the Texas Historical Marker for the CS Cemetery.
B. Historical Marker Program
Lou Hodges mentioned that there are a couple of applications in the works. The
committee is reviewing the current application and will possibly bring to Council for
changes.
C. Exploring History Lunch Series
Tom Turbiville is working on speakers for 2024 Exploring History Lunch Series.
D. Project HOLD Report
No Update
E. Oral History Interviews
Lisa Mouton is working with Cheletia Johnson and Barbara Moore on Genealogy interviews.

F. 85 Birthday of City of College Station
Jessica Williams is working with David White and the College Station Foundation to do a

joint event for the 85. They are working on a scavenger hunt and will also try to plan
something to take place at City Hall as well.
G. America’s 250
Sherry Frisk said that the fundraising efforts are moving along for the Never Forget
Garden, and they are in the process of collecting money for the bricks.

Lou Hodges passed around some items.
6. Adjourn.
Lisa Mouton motioned to adjourn the Historic Committee Board Meeting at 5:13 p.m., Sherry
Frisk seconded the motion, all were in favor, and the motion passed unanimously. The next
HPC meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 5,2023, at 4pm.
