Council questions and staff responses for items on June 22, 2023 City Council Meeting
7.2 City Hall Deductive Change Order
Sponsors: Jennifer Cain
Question: Deductive change order – I don’t understand what that means. Is that money being returned
to the city because it was unspent? Can we use it to fix the drainage in the back parking lot, the brick that
fell off during the storm, or the sidewalk near the dumpster that is chipping already?
Response: Yes, this money was unspent and is being returned to the City. All the items you mentioned
are being addressed with the contractor and design team as warranty items. In general, warranty items
are handled by the contractor at no cost to the City - typically when something was not installed per the
design and/or there was a defective part or material. The stone that fell has been replaced (see picture
below).
7.3 Engineering Services Retainer Contract with McCord Engineering, Inc.
Sponsors: Timothy Crabb
Question: Being asked to approve a contract that was not attached
Response: A copy of the contract will be included in the attachments in the email responding to these
questions.
