The City Council may or may not attend the Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting. 1. Call to Order and announce a Quorum. 2. Possible action and discussion on absence requests. 3. Possible action and discussion of previous minutes. 4. Hear Visitors. Visitors after stating name and address for the record may address the Historic Preservation Committee for three (3) minutes. Topics for deliberation shall be discussed under the appropriate agenda item, placed on the agenda of a subsequent meeting, or assigned to staff for research. However, a statement of specific factual information or the recitation of existing policy may be issued 5. Report by the Director of Parks and Recreation on matters pertaining to the Historic Preservation Committee. 8. Presentation, possible action, and discussion on future agenda items - A Historic Preservation Member may inquire about a subject for which notice has not been given. A statement of specific factual information or the recitation of existing policy may be given. Any deliberation shall be limited to a proposal to place the subject on an agenda for a subsequent meeting. 10. Presentation, possible action, and discussion of historical items presented by committee members, which may include historical books, pictures, artifacts, scrapbooks, or other memorabilia. No action will be taken. 11. Adjourn. The City Council may or may not attend the Historic Preservation Committee Regular Meeting. Present: Committee: Louis Hodges (chair) Marilyn Randall Gerald Burgner Katherine Edwards Sherry Frisk Chantal Vessali Ben Zimmer Not Present: Anat Geva Andy Smith City Staff: David Schmitz Andrea Lauer Linda Harvell — Council Member 1. Called to order and announced a Quorum at 4 p.m. 2. Anat Geva and Andy Smith requested absences and they were approved. 3. The Historic Preservation Committee voted unanimously to approve the July minutes. 4. No visitors were present. (Th 5. One Hundred copies of the original College Station History book were reprinted and are available to purchase for $15 at City Hall, Debra Balliew has agreed to write the new edition. Lou Hodges would like to recommend that they add photos with the text instead of the photos at the back of the book. A rough draft of the Historic Home Tour brochure was passed out during the meeting, the committee will send the changes if any to David Schmitz. No Historic Marker applications were received. Brooke has been conducting oral interviews and has transcribed Jeff Kernsten's interview. She is working on the Tom Turbiville interviews as well. The HPC Committee is working on getting Exploring History Lunch Lecture speakers for 2018. Brooke stated that she is still working on cleaning up and organizing Project Hold. She is making it where things are labeled and more user friendly. 6. David Schmitz gave an update on the American Mile Bricks. The broken bricks that are being replaced are currently at the manufacturer and will be installed once we receive them. 7. On September 13th at 5:30 p.m. the Mexican War Memorial Statue will be dedicated at Veteran's Park and November 10th is the Veteran's Day Ceremony also at Veteran's Park. Booneville Day's is October 14th at the Brazos Center. 8. Future agenda item. The committee will work on a commendation letter for Parks and Recreation staff member Marci Rodgers, honoring her hard work with the community and senior programming. Once the letter is complete they will present it at a future council. Meeting. The next HPC meeting will be moved to September 1 1th due to the 4th being Labor Day. 9.
