Richard Carter Park is a historically significant park, homestead site of the areas earliest settler,
arriving from Alabama in 1831. The park has an interpretive center with displays about Richard
Carter and the original water well reconstructed, a cemetery area, an open play area, a discovery
garden area featuring decks, seating, indigenous plants, a historical marker, and a bronze sculpture.
Learn from local organizations about College Station's beginning and
the people, land, native and wildflower plants, butterfly habitats,
wildseed planting, wreaths, butterfly activities, history of College
Station, farming tools, and more, focusing on historic preservation,
immunity service and education.
